The controversial sit-out. This was the one space which received some hostility from Laksh’s side. I really thought opening the balcony out was the way to go and he ummed and ahhed about it. But was I right or what?? Now we have so much natural light that floods into the apartment through this large western window, it’s absurd. We repurposed this etagere as our bar, which L’s parents bought when they lived in England (almost 35years ago), and it fit perfectly along the length of the wall. I reupholstered his grandfather’s rocking chair to match the aesthetic of the house and made it into one cozy cocktail room. It’s my favourite spot in the house to have my morning tea or to curl up with a book.
